The Aloha Bar at the House of Foong Lin is a great example of a "community" tiki bar. Chef Fu generously allowed the local VA/MD/DC Tiki community to transform his strip-mall style chinese restaurant into a complete tiki bar. With a new custom tiki drink menu lead and curated by Jeff Westlake, and combined with the outstanding chinese food that Mr. Fu has always served, Tiki Thirstdays are an excellent weekly gathering of local Ohana in a home they built for themselves. Not required, but if you show up without an Aloha shirt, there's a whole wall of clean loaners available to join in the fun.

Look below the glassy skyscrapers and you'll find Art Deco high-rises in Downtown Los Angeles, craftsman bungalows in Pasadena and envious estates along the hills and beaches. We think Los Angeles architecture is worth celebrating, so we've put together this guide to some of the city's most remarkable buildings and styles. It’s been a long journey for Lin, who’s been traveling and cooking various pop-ups over the past few years while gestating and developing the menu for her first solo restaurant.

Our team has a comprehensive understanding of organ failure to support your transplant needs. As the first team to develop California’s newest transplant program in over 20 years, we have the expertise to provide the highest level of care designed for you. I completed my medical training in New Jersey and my surgical residency training in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California. I then pursued my specialty training in transplant and surgical oncology of the liver, pancreas, and biliary system at Cedars-Sinai. I have had the opportunity to be on faculty at Cedars-Sinai, University of Florida, and City of Hope. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado and attended graduate school at Midwestern University in Arizona where I received a Master’s in Medical Science.

Along with cast-iron teapots full of steaming jasmine tea, Lunasia Chinese Cuisine serves their famous steamed and baked bites including giant pork shumai, plump har gow and fluffy BBQ pork buns. You’d be remiss not to try the dim sum house’s dessert offerings as well, like the almond milk tea, a show-stopping dish of hot, sweet almond milk covered by a flaky puff pastry top. You won’t find the traditional push carts, but it’s always an energetic scene filled with families, friends and dates. There are newer locations in Pasadena, Cerritos and Torrance with slightly smaller menus, if you’re just looking for a quick dim sum hit. The husband-and-wife team of Alan Lam and Grace Li built a cozy dumpling destination with goods that live up to the name. Before you have a chance to choose from the variety of jiaozi, every table receives a complimentary dish of peanuts, celery and firm tofu tossed in chili oil.

Having operated in the area for over 20 years, Kang Kang Food Court has drawn the likes of celebrity Momofuku chef David Chang through its doors for its piping hot, juicy deep-fried soup dumplings. However, the rest of its menu is full of quieter delights, like a mini shrimp wonton soup and Suzhou-style fresh pork mooncakes, that keep locals in the know coming back time and time again. Restaurants build upon familiar options such as mapo tofu and kung pao chicken, and feature harder-to-find items like mung bean jelly tossed in chili oil; wok-fried crab; and the “party in a pot” Leshan bobo chicken pot. Somewhat of a rarity among other Sichuan restaurants in town, Sichuan Impression also offers desserts, including a brown sugar rice cake, and pumpkin mochi wrapped around red bean paste.

Nightshade is finally here from 2014 Eater Young Gun and Top Chef season 12 winner Mei Lin. The former Ink sous chef and Spago Las Vegas alum is bringing her unique brand of Asian-influenced dishes to the bustling Arts District beginning January 2, 2019. After hitting up one of L.A.’s best Chinese restaurants, check out these sweet spots. With my vast experiences surgically, academically, and scientifically I am confident I can provide the highest quality of care in the most technologically advanced and personalized manner. Though its skyline will never measure up to the likes of New York or Chicago, Los Angeles has carved out its own architectural identity.
Along my career path, I have been selected to lead and develop transplants programs including creating a team to build a liver transplant program from scratch. This was certified by CMS from the first site visit and in less than a year from initially being approved. Following this, I have been chosen as the director of kidney and pancreas transplant program. Implementing innovative protocols to maximize organ utilization, offered patients a timely transplant, and simultaneously steered the program volume to its highest reported. While not every item is a winner on the menu, a few standouts—including the pork xiaolongbao, the saucy, garlicky dan mien (served with your choice of protein) and the Dungeness crab fried rice keep us coming back to Dan time and time again. Institution’s original Chinatown location dates back to 1965, although you can now find 12 other sleeker outposts specializing in fast-casual meals and dessert scattered across the San Gabriel Valley.

The fine fireplace and pretty atmosphere let visitors feel relaxed here.

This Shanghainese institution with locations in Chinatown, Pasadena, Monterey Park, Alhambra and the City of Industry is known for its fantastic soup dumpling and array of casual dishes. The skin is nicely supple but tough enough to hold the ball of meat and surrounding soup without easily tearing. They also have a great dish known as seaweed fish in English. The texture is similar to Japanese tempura, but flakier, and it’s served with a fresh slice of lemon on top. Though its name might conjure up images of New England lobster rolls, this small Vietnamese-Chinese SGV strip mall spot sells the most incredible fresh stir-fried lobster with green onion and garlic in town, all on top of a bed of noodles.
Those in search of a deal will also appreciate their affordable lunchtime specials menu. It is exciting to be part of the multi-disciplinary team at House Medicine. My vision is to inspire hope and be a step to unburden patients and families through the challenges of cancer, liver, and/or kidney failure. It is thrilling to have all expert here, under one roof to formulate a treatment plan centered on each patient-specific needs. Hi, I am the director of anesthesiology and critical care medicine for House Medicine.
He completed general surgery training at Cleveland Clinic Health System, Cleveland, OH, and transplant surgery fellowship at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. The result of which has been presented in scientific meetings and published in peer-review journals.
Blame the restaurant’s longer than expected turnaround, which was originally anticipated to open this past summer. Sign up for our email to enjoy Los Angeles without spending a thing (as well as some options when you’re feeling flush). The owner frequently comes out at interacts with the customers. Unfortunately there is no selected restaurants in the area you've searched for. The areas covered by the MICHELIN Guide are increasing regularly so we may have some selection soon.
In the last decade I have had the privilege of practicing at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University, NJ, Lenox Hill Hospital, NY, and St Vincent Medical Center. Our outstanding team of medical professionals work together to customize a treatment plan specific to each patient’s needs. We strive to provide the best possible patient outcomes by utilizing state of the art techniques and clinical trials.
Here at House Medicine we know that all aspects of medical care surrounding you or your loved one’s diagnosis is important. We believe in a true multi-specialty approach, starting at the beginning of your journey through this often complicated and intimidating process. Our team has worked together through many complex cases, prioritizing communication amongst ourselves and, especially, our patients.
Accordingly, I have been nominated to the curriculum and scientific studies committees of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS). Currently, within the regulatory and legislative committee, we are working on updating the outmoded regulations in support of July 2019 US President executive order to increase access to kidney transplants. I have performed thousands of extremely complex transplants and cancer surgeries in the last decade, many which have been second opinions. I have been the author of over 100 peer reviewed articles/abstracts, an invited guest speaker numerous times, and expert panelist.
